My mood is like been broken into pieces, and cracked everywhere. Hard to portray how it feels or what it is alike. Beyond description. Can't concentrate at all even thou the bio mid-term is coming.
It seems like I'm living in a world full of school-work. Am I pushing myself too hard? Well....I don't think so based on what I get in return. Sometimes I feel frustrated when seeing what I get on exams, but I'm happy that I gain a lot more than that on the other hand. Whole lot more. Something that cannot be taught in class; something that cannot be experienced by every single one of us; something that I'll never forget; something that I might cherish for the rest of my life. School-work matters? Yeah~~ of course, but not as valuable as some other stuff which will benefit you for the rest of your life. (see~~~ I told you that my thinking and mood is been broken into pieces.....I don't even know what I'm talking about here...)

I have to confess that I made a stupid mistake in lab today. (Me so dumb.....)
I put 100% ice-cold ethanol, which is not quite right, in stead of 70% isopropanol in to the tubby thing. I was so shocked and thought that I screwed all the DNA extrations and I'm dead.......But after I gave it a thought, it shouldn't be that bad since the 2 solutions are both alcohol. Thank God that Tim, our king of biochem in lab, said that it's perfectly okay to extract DNA with 100% ethanol, the only thing I have to do is just simply double the amount.
Phew~~ What a relief!!
Prof. Floss will hold an emergency lab safty meeting, which has never been held before, on one of the Tuesdays. It seems like the meeting is gonna be a very serious one coz the person in charge of our lab was like extremely angry on the other day for radioactive materials spilt.
Oh well....The meeting will make me to change my violin class schedule again........SHXT.....

Talked to Mom earlier, and just noticed that our National Health Insurance in now like a CRAP. Taxpayers will have to pay more next budget year, and will receive inferior medication. Governors of the Bureau claim that the organization has suffered a loss in money for a period of time, that's why they need taxpayers to pay more. But I was wondering how come the staffs of the Bureau still get 4.5-months salary as their annual bonus???
I'm "a bit" confused by the point of having NHI.
Who gets the benefit after all??

Everything has been like in a mess so far, thanks to Yi-Ling, the spooky girl. She insisted that it wasn't my time for the violin calss, so I had to change my schedule over and over again.
Crap!!!!!!

My cousins have "tortured" me since I saw them on Friday. They kept wondering where my bf is, coz they strongly believe that whoever left me Mushu in my place is the one.
Cool wedding, got a chance to see what a Western wedding is.
Good to see family!! (thou buddies did a lot of interesting things while I was away......Grrrrrrrrr......)

Damn.....the stupid fire alarm went on early in the morning at around 5:20am.......and I was deeply in my sweet dream, I thought it was my alarm clock that made the discordant noise.......
People waited in the cold wind outside (I was in my pajamas with a jacket on only) for like 30 minutes for the check-up for the entire building, then went back to bed. And of course, I was late for class today....................

Went for an art exhibition after lab today. Genesis it's called. Never thought about sciences can be expressed in this way, it's SO COOL!! The tree thing with petri-dishes all around it is extremely cool! And if you pay attention, you can actually see there are letters written on the agar gel of the plates. Awesome!!!
I like the blue crystal mountain thing the best. And there was a little note on one of the bottles on the shelf behind the blue mountain says:"Every invention is a tragedy in itself." Huge impact on me. As a science major, I once thought about why we want to manipulate gene and stuff like that. I personally believe what we are doing right now at this time, cloning sheeps or monkeys or rats or whatsoever, is to clone organs for transplant ultimately. It's just that the process of reaching our ultimate goal is too controversial. (Anything regarding "life" can be really controversial.) Ethical issues have been brought up coz it seems like we forget all of our final goals, and has been playing gene around with our "unbeatable" bioengineering technique..........
Anyway, it's a cool art exhibition, and you gotta check it out!!

I turned off my light, and with the radio on tuned to 88.5FM.
Night scenes of Seattle is so attractive. The reflection of street lights in Lake Union enhance the attractiveness of it.
I actually observe our landmark ---- Space Needle with my binoculars from my room...(hee hee hee, I'm such a astro geek...)
I should try to indulge in this dreamy atmosphere once in a while, and escape from this busy life + settle myself.

It's all my bad I know, but I just don't feel like to study, man~~~
There is another chem mid-term coming up this Wed, and there are truckloads of trifles need to be done before I go to Vancouver for a wedding.
Speak of wedding, it'll be my first time going to a wedding representing my family, and of course...I'll have to dress up. I believe I will have a hard time at the wedding coz I'm not much a dress-up lover, I think that makes me look dumb. Even thou I went to dance with buddies last time, but still.....(but I might go to dance again if there is any, and of course with my buddies...) I dunno, I guess I just personally like casual-style wear, coz I strongly believe that's how Mimi should look,that's the way to show Mimi, and that's the only dressing that matches Mimi's personality ---- casual, simple and easy.
So, don't FORCE me to dress like an idiot, coz I'm pretty stubborn, I'm difficult to cope with. I can definitely argue with you with my supports until you give up arguing with me. Whenever you look me dressed-up, that's all because I have to.
God, enough blah.....need a shower now, and go back to my chem.

Just called my uncle M.L., and noticed that I've never talked to him for such a long time!! He's ok, but a bit too cool (cold, maybe) for me, I guess that's why I seldom talk to him like that. After coming to the States, I feel like I'm getting comfortable to talk with him, and I can basically tell him whatever I want, and he is kinda cool with that.

The Bite is awesome!! I ate truckloads of FREE FOOD and got lots of souvenirs. There was a cool guy carrying a "huge backpack" (which is a huge cooler bottle thing) serving free coffee. He's so cool that he carries the coffee bottle on his back and serve the coffee with a gun-like thing, and has all the cream + sugar + stirrer stuff in front of his tummy......I was like...is he a robot or sth? awesome~~
I'll probably go again with my buddies tomorrow coz it seems like they are all attracted by the FREE stuff, and I'll go get my favorite food ---- strawberry stick coated with white chocolate!!!

Nice day.
Ran into Makeda at Hall Health while working today, and we chatted a lot. Can't believe that she'll go to the Bite again tomorrow, and we'll probably meet again at Seattle Center.
Went to World Wrapps with an old friend, Ilham. Let's see.....what was last time I saw him? Humm....on my birthday, I believe...(hee hee hee, it has been like 6 months..)
Anyways, we had our cell #'s exchanged, and we were really silly that we sent messages to each other for like every 5 minutes after he left for home. Funny!!

I spent 5 minutes (normally 15 minutes by walking) running from Bagley to Fishery right after my biochem lab today, and got caught by my friend who wasn't suppose to be in Fishery. After the class, went straight to work, followed by more biochem lab thing. Now you know why I always have 1/2 life left after school everyday .......
It was about 5:20pm by the time I got home. 5 Minutes later, got a phone call from my buddies, coz it's dinner time.......So 4 of us went out for dinner across the U-Bridge. We had a great time together, but I did sth which is really embarrassing: food in my mouth suddenly flew out, and hit the person sitting right facing me....(oops~~sorry~~) It's all because he said sth really funny + stupid....
Took a walk to Gas Works Park after dinner. It's so beautiful......You can see all the old gas machine things and old pipes, and the skyline of Seattle on the other side of the lake stretchs to the horizon. So beautiful.......

Just had fun chatting with Skylar. She told me an interesting "slang" ---- a bun in the oven. (hee hee hee...I can say this to Jeff...) "A bun in the oven" means being pregnant....(don't kill me, Jeff!!) And I have a good idea now, whenever people ask if you have a bun in the oven, (that means you look fat,) you can reply him by asking," then do you want a "punch" to go with it?" I can't believe that I actually get higher than average and study for one night only.
I know it's bad to study right before the exam and try to cram everything, but I was extremely busy that time as I mentioned before. I'll should really study everyday right after lectures.

My roommmate, HY, is really really weird.
First of all, she can spend 1 full hour in the bathroom without making any noise. I have no idea what she does in there for such a long time. Her "stay" in the bathroom makes me have no access to it. ><
Secondly, she always goes directly into her room right after coming back with her shoes on, and shuts the door immediately. She will never open the door again until she wants to go to bathroom. So that I always think there is nobody at home coz her door is always closed, and there are only my shoes on the shelf.
Thirdly, it seems like she has only black clothes. Come on!! It's 80F outside, and she wears black long-sleeved dress + black coat?? I melt just by looking at her........
Finally, she is wizardly. She can let her friends stay in her room for like whole day, and she goes out by herself. (just like today) I was shocked when her friend came out from her room and talked to her after her coming back. (I was like WHAT?? There is a person stayed at our place for like whole day??)
I don't think I can take it anymore.....

I spent almost whole day watching "Plain Love" today, such a great weekend, did like nothing.
I'll have a really busy week next week coz I'll have to take my violin lesson starting next week.
Mushu is soooooooo cute, wish he can stay here longer to keep me company.
Hope his dad will stay here in Seattle, coz it seems like his dad is facing a real big crisis now.....

I'll probably have to stay up late tonight again for my chem mid-term. I got a call yesterday from my families, and they said that they would be here in Seattle tomorrow. TOMORROW?? God...don't tell me that...... I'm excited to see my families, but on the other hand, they screw my schedule totally. Besides, I'll have 2 mid-terms in a roll. They really pick the RIGHT TIME to come down here.........

Just finished my "to-call" list. Had a great chat with my dear uncle, and we talked about how important "international concept" is, and how important language ability is. He gave me several valuable tips of composing resumes and surviving in our competitive society. He got resumes from all over the world basically, and he had to interview those people who looks outstanding based on their resumes. (I bet the interview is in English...) Anyways, my conclusion was: education background is the primary indicator of a person's achievement, language ability is damn highly valued, and MBA courses are like "required" for all areas of profession. Shoot, it seems like I gotta take some MBA classes while here. Competition will be even more obvious for the next generation, and they will have to learn even more than we do.

I had such a great time last night!! Went to a dinner with bunch of Taipei firefighters (even though I had only a bowl of soup + 1/2 bowl of fried rice) at Lake Union where the 4th of July fireworks lighted.
The firefighters are so funny and interesting to talk with, and they even invite me to visit them when I go back to Taiwan. We took like 100 of photos at the dinner even though I don't really know some of them.
The fireworks were incredibly fabulous!! Never watched it that "closely", awesome!! I like the "parachute" part best!!
After saying good-bye to the firefighters, (they were heading Sea-Tac airport back to Taiwan right after dinner) Friend and I waited for bus going home. Unfortunately, there was no more bus coz it was too late. So, we walked for almost 90 minutes back to our sweet home; that's why I'm like dying today. (forces me to give up my Genesis plan again....)

(I'm invited to a dinner with a bunch of firefighters tomorrow, but I don't feel like going at this particular time coz I'm so not in the moon of chatting with people. However, I think I might want to go tomorrow when all the fireworks-watching spots are taken. Plus, I'll have a free dinner, and actually, those firefighters are really 俗 and funny and interesting to talk with!! hee hee hee...)

Can somebody come and fight me? Or just give me a punch. I'm having like too much pressure inside my body, need to find a way to release it........What a boring night, no one to talk to. I'm extremely exhausted today. Go to lab @ 9:00am, and do the well-plate thing 'til 12:00pm. Then, go to bio class in Fishery, which is like 15-minute walk from my lab. After that, go straight to work. By the time I'm off, I have only 1/2 life left. No more energy left for Genesis art exhibition as I planned, but I'll definitely go check that out some other time. Just got back from my friend's B-day dinner, (so tired coz my exhausting day + my sore jaw) but that was not bad!! Not bad at all!!

Did I talk too much yesterday on the Medic One car? How come my jaw is extremely SORE whole day today? But I believe I talk whole lot more when I'm with Yang, Tim, and Jeff, so talking is definitely not the case. Also, good to know for the people riding the paramedics car, I'm not the only one that gets a sore jaw. I can barely dine today. (It can be a good way of losing some weight...hee hee)

Had so much fun today!!! I skipped my classes + research + work today for being an interpreter for bunch of firefighters from Taipei for their paramedical training. I got to see how advanced Seattle's paramedic system + equipments + skills are compared to ours in Taipei, which means we still have a LONG WAY to go......Anyways, I actually got on a Medic One car, and joined one of their "calls", so cool!! Got several little souvenirs cannot be bought from both Taipei Fire Department and Seattle Fire Department, fantastic!! They even invite us for a great supper at harbor on 4th of July, and watch the Fireworks!!
