Man~~ How can I end the day without mentioning Leonid meteor shower !?
Believe me, it's gonna be a once-in-a-life-time chance. (That holds pretty much for all astronomical phenomena basically.)
The Leonid shower is caused by debris from the comet Tempel-Tuttle which passed through the solar system in 1998. The next time Earth will pass through a thick part of this comet's tail will be in 2099. (See~~ told you~~ once-in-a-life-time)
The meteors will appear to come out of the constellation Leo in the eastern sky, which is why they're named Leonids. Tonight, some may be visible around 11 p.m. ET, but most should be seen between 4:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. ET, with the best views at approximately 5:30 a.m. ET.
And the best way to observe this is just simply getting away from city light, pulling up a blanket, lying down on it, and watching the sky.
(Hum...see if I can stay up till then......)
